Lakeland, FL

On September 14, 2007 Engine 15 was dispatched to a residential structure fire and arrived to find a two story structure with smoke showing from the roof line. They were advised that an invalid lived in the home and was still inside. Lt. Daniel Washington and FF Brad McCard made entry into the structure and rescued the person while firefighting operations were being set up. Their actions to rescue the person without regard to their personal safety exemplify the traditions of the Fire Service. They are examples for others to follow and bring credit upon the Polk County Fire Rescue Division, Public Safety, and the Board of County Commissioners.
